An Evening of Cinema – IndiEarth On Screen

IE On ScreenThe monsoon rains may have washed away our hopes for an outdoor screening, but they couldn’t wash away this city’s thirst for off beat cinema. Last Wednesday evening, Chennai’s film aficionados and film lovers alike braved the rains to gather in the quaint and cozy little Tryst Cafe, where they were treated to an assorted line up of films that were as varied and eclectic as the selection of tarts and treats on display. Members of the media, filmmakers, musicians, bikers, film lovers, zombie nutters – all packed in to seek shelter from the storm and inspiration for the soul with films that spanned a range of topics, from travel wanderlust to zombie mania: Gaurav Jani’s Riding Solo To The Top Of The World; N.D. Keluskar’s documentary on Allauddin Khan Baba; and Luke Kenny’s Rise of the Zombie.

The ultimate aim of the evenings is to provide intelligent, offbeat entertainment to audiences who enjoy non-mainstream cinema, while simultaneously promoting both Indian and international non-mainstream filmmaking. IndiEarth On Screen happens on alternate Wednesdays of every month – so we hope to see all you cinemaratti at the next evening on Wednesday, July 24th!
