Cine Wednesdays, Saturday Nights Live

Starting this Wednesday, August 13th, IndiEarth once again collaborates with Hablis Hotel in the launch of regular evenings of non-mainstream films for the city’s cinemaratti at The Lounge, Hablis.

The screenings will showcase renowned independent filmmakers from the past and present, from around India and the world – auteurs who push the boundaries of filmmaking, and artists with unique stories to share. Amongst them will be Indian filmmaking legends like S.N.S. Sastry and Satyajit Ray, international filmmakers including Alex Holmes from Australia and Rene Mohandas from Canada, and a diverse selection of shorts, documentaries, features and animation films from a host of other talented independent filmmakers. The initiative is aimed at supporting the non-mainstream cinema culture to flourish in Chennai, and have more screening platforms for filmmakers.

Starting this month, Chennai audiences will see bigger and more explosive acts every Saturday night. August’s lineup at the Moon and Sixpence features artists such as Mad Orange Fireworks, Junkyard Groove, and Tails On Fire.

With a mission to cultivate a rich arts scene in the culture city of Chennai, IndiEarth collaborates with major venues across the city to create spaces where independent musicians can showcase their sounds, and non-mainstream filmmakers can screen their work.
