Nada Brahma’s exclusive review of Sound Avtar’s new EP on IndiEarth.

With an EP cover that resembles the days of 8bit computer games, Piyush Bhatnagar a.k.a Sound Avtar graces us with his talents once again – this time with a release through Rub A Duck, ‘1UP/ Monster On A Rope EP’.

As one of the leading dubstep/bass producers in India Sound Avtar has relentlessly brought us tracks that have influences from British dubstep, American Electronica and fusing is very own blend of uniqueness into the mix with his signature production of intense build ups and epic drops.

This slamming two track EP  kicks off with ‘1UP’, an 8bit computer game inspired tune that sounds like Mario going up against the Terminator with lots of lazer fire and destruction. The second track, ‘Monster On A Rope’ an upfront Electro House number is heavy bass combined with uplifting electronics is filled to the brim with those signature crescendo’s and a strong drops I spoke of earlier – a guaranteed peaktime floorfiller.

The EP definitely has the markings of a commercial nature rather than the underground stuff we have heard from him in the past – giving it a mass appeal!

Two great tracks 3.5/5
