Mumbai International Film Festival – Feb 3rd – 9th
The Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) gears up to celebrate its 24th edition – after the first ever International Film Festival for Documentary, Short, and Animation films was held in Mumbai in 1990. Every year the festival brings together more than 45 – 50 countries to participate, with renowned filmmakers including Werner Kobe and Nagisa Ishima participating in the festival and holding a place on the jury panels.
This year, from February 3rd – 9th 2014, the city of Mumbai will come alive once again with a host of colourful films from a wide variety of genres and from different corners of the globe – participating in both the International Competition and the National Competition, and also being showcased at screenings over the course of the week. The competition segment of the festival will be judged by a panel of eminent members of the worldwide filmmaking community. Jury members this year will include individuals like filmmaker Anand Patwardhan (IN), who has been making critically acclaimed award winning films on people’s movements for over four decades; Ms. Angela Haardt (DE) – a Berlin based curator for film and video art; and Mr. Mark Achbar (CAN), a filmmaker and human rights activist whose past projects include The Corporation (2003), and Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and The Media (1992).
A week of world cinema not to be missed! For more on MIFF and the for the full screening schedule, visit http://www.miff.in.
