Celebrating One Year: IndiEarth On Screen

“A story should have a beginning, a middle and an end… but not necessarily in that order” – Jean-Luc Godard.

One year has gone by since IndiEarth On Screen’s story first started in Chennai – since it first began showcasing a wide variety of independent cinema, ranging from shorts to documentaries, fiction to animation – and featuring filmmakers from around India and the globe. But this is by no means the end – rather, it’s just the beginning of a journey that aims to bring independent cinema to more audiences across India. This celebration of new beginnings and never ending stories starts this Wednesday 30th July with two unique independent films by filmmakers Robert MacLean and Gaurav Jani, at an exciting new venue: the Goethe-Institut, Chennai.

Born in Toronto, Canada, UK based Robert MacLean wears many hats: novelist, playwright, independent filmmaker. His writing has been published in renowned film magazines in the US and UK, and his award-winning direction of romantic comedy Emma Blue has made its rounds across the festival circuit – including a screening at the Cannes Independent Film Festival. MacLean’s film The Moment Of Accepting Life is a short comedy about three men who find themselves standing together at the Pearly Gates – much to the surprise of St. Peter himself. One Crazy Ride

Gaurav Jani is no stranger to adventure – as his travel documentary One Crazy Ride reveals. With no back up vehicle and no film crew, Jani sets out into the uncharted territory of the Himalayan region of Arunachal Pradesh, with a crew of four other motorcyclists, as adventurous as he is. In the face of an unforgiving terrain, Jani captures this once in a lifetime journey with all its trials, tribulations, friendships and bonds as the bikers attempt to chart a route that is believed not to exist.Watch the trailer here.
