Animation Without Borders: IndiEarth Animation Film Festival
The 2nd edition of the IndiEarth Animation Film Festival – hosted by IndiEarth with partners the Alliance Française de Madras and the Goethe-Institut Chennai – gears up to hit Chennai this weekend with over 140 films being screened over the span of three days in the city. Taking place between June 26th – 28th 2015 and featuring a diverse collection of animations from different corners of the globe, the festival is India’s first quality international festival dedicated exclusively to the art of animation.
The films being screened cover a diverse variety of social, political, and fictional topics relating to a wide variety of themes – from the LGBT to tales about childbirth, from love stories to space innovations, tales of horror to satires on civilized society – with films from both established and up and coming animation artists being showcased. Films being screened have been selected for their innovative uses of animation storytelling techniques, for incorporating the latest animation technologies into their productions, and for being pioneers in the art of animation and creators of landmark animation films. The works have been selected from countries around the world including India, France, Canada, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Singapore, Spain, Croatia, Iran and a host of other regions. By bringing the festival to Chennai, IndiEarth’s aim is to add diversity to India’s independent film landscape, provide Indian audiences access to offbeat and unique animation films from around the world, and create a platform for both Indian and international filmmakers to showcase their work.
The festival will also play host to a series of workshops by renowned animation artist Gitanjali Rao, who will conduct the following two sessions:
Master Class on the ‘Making of True Love Story’
Venue: Alliance Francaise of Madras | Date: Saturday 27th June at 11 am – 1 pm
