IndiEarth Out There: Swarathma Live!
With its mission to traverse the country unearthing new sounds and showcasing pioneers in the country’s independent music movement, IndiEarth Out There – IndiEarth’s independent video series – moves to Bangalore for Season 02, and launches the new series with folk/rock act Swarathma.
The Bangalore based act brings together a seamless blend of contemporary sounds and traditional influences, and consists of Vasu Dixit on vocals and khamok; Varun Murali on guitar, Sanjeev Nayak on violin, Jishnu Dasgupta on bass / guitar, and guest percussionist Mahesh. The band has also taken their show on the road and across the seas, playing festivals in the UK and beyond. “The festivals we played in the UK were amazing,” the band told IndiEarth. “For them it was a novelty to see a band use Indian folk influences and we were wondering if they’d understand the songs in the Indian language. But we figured out that they just understand what we’re playing, maybe they feel what we feel.”
