IndiEarth On Screen – Jan 8th & 9th

Barely 6 months after its conception, IndiEarth On Screen began its travels to cities beyond Chennai – starting with Bangalore at the lovely venue The Humming Tree, now a warm host to IndiEarth On Screen nights every Thursday, with more venues in cities across India joining hands in 2014 to share some of the best of offbeat cinema with audiences.

The tenth edition features two fascinating films – Aniket Dasgupta and Swathi Sethumadhava’s The Other Way, and Mithun Bhat’s The Back Of The Busk. The first is a unique look at India’s independent filmmaking community (the ‘indies’, as the film calls it) and their quest to tell unique stories that go against the grain of a Bollywood dominated film industry. The second film – more musical in nature – is a series documenting New York City’s busking culture, and features New York based folk/blues subway musician Cathy Grier aka NYC Subway Girl.
