Songs By The Sea: EarthSync Music Festival

Songs by the sea, from across genres styles borders and boundaries. The EarthSync Music Festival happening this weekend at The Covelong Point Surf and Music Festival brings together some of the finest independent talent across a wide spectrum of genres – with the trademark signature of EarthSync programming.

Opening the festival on Friday September 12th is the experimental electronica duo Klypp from Bangalore – who blend stark poetry with intricate sonic tapestries to create a unique space of downtempo electronica. The talented Nischay Parekh from Calcutta, with his blend of organic sounds and electronic textures,  will share his unique form of lyrical storytelling – taking to the stage alongside the versatile percussion prince/producer/sound designer Jiver aka Jivraj Singh from Calcutta. To close the night Delhi Sultanate and Begum X will  set the stage on fire with a toxic and infectious blend of reggae and dancehall – getting audiences up and on their feet.

Day 2 – Saturday September 13th – begins with a unique trio from Mauritius, sharing their stories and soulful sounds of Mauritian blues. Eric Triton of Tritonik has played around the world, and now brings his musical poetry to the sandy shores of Covelong. No strangers to the spotlight, The F16s are next up with a lethal blend of alt rock and electronica. Closing the night will be Indian ethnotronic collaborative project Filter Coffee – featuring percussionist Swarupa Ananth and flautist Shriram Sampath.

Day 3 on Sunday September 14th opens with the early morning ragas of Carnatic maestro TM Krishna – providing a fittingly serene soundtrack to an early morning sunrise by the ocean. Pinch from Bangalore – a fresh young indie act will begin the musical evening at 4 pm. As the sun begins to set and dusk approaches, Kutle Khan will bring the atmosphere to life with a colourful and exuberant performance of traditional Rajasthani folk music from the rich and vibrant land of Rajasthan. To end the festivities is none other than The Raghu Dixit Project – with an infectious blend of traditional Indian sensibilities and global influences. A fittingly energetic end to three beautiful days of song, sea and sand.
